9 Perks of Knowing Your Life's Purpose
I’ll never forget when God connected a lot of the seemingly random dots in my life…
I was listening to a podcast episode with two of my friends and mentors talking to writers and speakers about identifying their God-given life message.
Something that was said made me pause.
“Find the thread, the thing that has been woven and repeated throughout your story.”
I was immediately reminded of when God spoke to me about how He uses me. “I’ve made some to be hands and some to be feet in the body of Christ. I have made you to be a womb.”
It gave me chills. In that moment God shared the connecting thread to my roles as a mom, a surrogate/gestational carrier, wife, soul encourager, success strategizer, and the right-hand woman to high level lady leaders. In all of these examples God had used and was using me to be a life-giver and dream co-carrier while helping others birth their God-given dreams.
Having this revelation was priceless.
The same is true for you. When you recognize how God is using you, your life changes.
Here are nine perks of knowing your life’s purpose:
The daily mundane takes on meaning. Most people spend their day trying to figure out what to do. When you don’t have a clear objective and purpose, it’s easy to feel lost and unproductive. When you know how God is using you, the routine and mundane can become infused with a purposeful mindset.
It’s easier to resist distractions. Your life’s purpose is something that’s compelling to you. Distractions are hard to resist when your life feels meaningless, or you feel bored. Your ability to focus is enhanced when you know your purpose and you have a target to hit.
It’s easier to make decisions. Your purpose is the overriding consideration in your life. Decisions are much easier to make when you clearly understand what you’re trying to accomplish and where you are going.
Fun. For most people, a fun activity is just something done for distraction or squeezed in when possible. It’s not something you do all day, every day. When you know your purpose, the activities involved with walking it out can be “fun” and energy producing to you.
Contentment. You feel content when you know and live your purpose. The nagging feeling that you should be doing something else or something “more” with your life dissipates.
Enthusiasm. You feel much more motivated. You feel less internal resistance. Knowing your purpose unleashes your enthusiasm. In fact, enthusiasm is one clue that you’re living your purpose.
You make meaningful progress in your life. When you see life as intentional, instead of happenstance, you give weight and meaning to what you choose to do with it.
You become more inspiring to others. Have you ever known someone that was clear on what they wanted from their life? It’s exciting to be around someone like that. You become much more interesting and inspiring when you live a life by design, instead of a life by default.
Your creativity is fully utilized. Pursuing anything meaningful will involve overcoming obstacles. When you’re fully energized, your creativity can operate at full power. You’re surprised by the ability to solve problems as God directs you as you walk out your “why.”
Friend, you are not a mistake. In a world of a gazillion possibilities, God orchestrated the exact sperm to connect with a specific egg at just the right time to form YOU. He made you to be a significant and strategic part in the body of Christ.
If you aren’t sure how God is using you, I want you to pause right now and ask Him. Then, here’s the key, listen to what He says and watch for what He reveals. He may take you on a trip down memory lane.
As you spend time with Him, He will reveal the masterpiece He is weaving through your life.
“You make known to me the path of life; in your presence there is fullness of joy; at your right hand are pleasures forevermore.” - Psalm 16:11
I pray that the perks of your purpose and the blessings of a life of obedience would meet you with each step you take as you do all the things that God has called and created you to do.
I’m cheering you on,
